The Illusion of Control

On the decisions we believe we make, and the systems that make them for us.

Sample text

This is a sample body standing in for the revision of an earlier paper on control and decision. It is here so that the index, the reading column and the figure treatment can be seen with more than one entry, and every sentence of it will be replaced.

The piece will be set like every essay on this site: one reading column, figures that carry the argument, footnotes below the text, and a version number that changes when the text does.1

Placeholder: an empty frame standing in for a diagram.
Fig. 1Placeholder for the essay's figure.

What the piece will do

The earlier paper is being revised. The essay will trace where a decision is actually made: in the person, the organisation, or the system that framed the options.

Footnotes

  1. Placeholder footnote in a sample entry.
